Continua CI 1.9.2 Version History

1.9.2.1365

July 8th, 2024

Changes

  • Update: The bundled PostgreSQL database service has been upgraded to version 16.3.
  • Update: Added new server properties "Server.Git.DefaultBranchName" and "Server.Mercurial.DefaultBranchName" which can be used to specify the default branch when creating new Git and Mercurial repositories.
  • Update: The duration of each stage run is now shown in the tooltip for each completed stage block on dashboard and configuration views.
  • Update: Added new property collectors for dotnet runtime v6.0.31, v7.0.20, v8.0.6, v9.0.0-preview.4 and v9.0.0-preview.5; sdk v6.0.423, v7.0.410, v8.0.302, v9.0.100-preview.4 and v9.0.100-preview.5.
  • Update: Improvement to messages displayed for any errors occurring during build workspace clean up.

  • Fix: Search input is now trimmed when selecting a branch, tag or commit on the Queue Options dialog.
  • Fix: Destination folder was not always preserved for agent to server archive workspace rules.
  • Fix: Issue where variables were not expanded in archive workspace rules.

  • Fix: Archive workspace rules with a blank filter on destination are now handled correctly.
  • Updates to some third party packages.

Note: You will need to update your agents after upgrading the server to this build.

1.9.2.1341

May 16th, 2024

Changes

  • Fix: Duplicate changesets can no longer be added to a build while accumulating changesets. This was causing errors when stopping build.
  • Fix: Workspace synchronisation has be updated to exclude direction junctions and symlinks when recursing the directory structure. This is to prevent the type of circular recursion issues found with npm directories structures.
  • Fix: We are now explicitly sending a quit message when disconnecting from SMTP service after sending email notifications. This is to deal with an issue where email messages were rejected.
  • Fix: A cryptographic exception with authentication cookies which occurred when upgrading from a very old version of Continua is now handled.

  • Update: The accumulate changesets option has been moved from the configuration conditions to the configuration details. This means that a queue condition is no longer required to use this feature. This option is a configuration default and can be overridden when manually starting a build or in the settings for each trigger.
  • Update: The accumulate changesets feature has been updated to ensure that any new changesets on the build repository branches, detected while the build is initialising or queued, are added to the build. This covers the period between build creation and the final allocation of the build changeset just before the agent selection process for the first stage. Previously, changesets detected during a forced repository check would always trigger new builds.
  • Update: Added new property collectors for dotnet runtime v6.0.30, v7.0.19 and v8.0.5; sdk v6.0.422, v7.0.409 and v8.0.300.

  • Updates to some third party packages.

Note: You will need to update your agents after upgrading the server to this build.

1.9.2.1314

April 24th, 2024

Changes

  • Regression: Fixed issue with v1.9.2.1309 preventing repository triggers from starting builds for new git changesets.
  • Fix: Issue which occurred when multiple changesets were pulled from a repository at the same time. There was long delay before the second and subsequent changesets were picked up by the trigger. Therefore, it was possible to end the quiet period before all changesets are associated with the trigger, allowing them to trigger a new build.
  • Update: Added new property collectors for dotnet runtime 9.0.0-preview.3; sdk v9.0.100-preview.3.

1.9.2.1309

April 18th, 2024

Changes

  • Update: Significantly improved performance when loading the initial list of branch head changesets for Git repositories with a large number of branches and pull requests. Note, however, that these improvements are apply to repositories which have been fully cloned. e.g. with the git blobless clone setting was set to false.
  • Update: The server property Server.Git.UseBloblessClone now defaults to false. This will affect new and reset Git repositories. With blobless clone enabled, initial cloning of the git repository is faster. However, improvements to the initial listing of branch head changesets require blobless cloning to be disabled and the initialisation improvement can far surpass the cloning improvement if the repository contains many branches and pull requests.
  • Update: Git repositories now have a "Blobless clone" option which can be used to individually override the default set by the server property Server.Git.UseBloblessClone.
  • Update: Improvement to changeset topographical ordering performance for fully cloned Git repositories.
  • Update: The current repository operation is now shown as a tooltip over the Status value on all repository tables.
  • Update: Projects with no configurations are now omitted from the projects menu. Projects with only disabled configurations are also omitted if Show Disabled is not set on the main dashboard page.
  • Update: Improvement the sizing of the Queue Option dialog when a configuration is associated with many repositories.
  • Update: NPM actions no longer show colour codes in log output.
  • Update: Added client IP address, referring page and list of server variables when writing an unexpected web error to the event log.
  • Update: Added copy to clipboard link to version field on build details page.
  • Update: Added new property collectors for dotnet runtime v6.0.28, v6.0.29, v7.0.17, v7.0.18, v8.0.3, v8.0.4 and v9.0.0-preview.2; sdk v6.0.420, v6.0.421, v7.0.407, v7.0.408, v8.0.203, v8.0.204 and v9.0.100-preview.2.

  • Fix: Added code to correct variable namespace parentage in the database. This was causing errors during cleanup of archived configurations for some users.
  • Fix: Disabled repository were shown with an Error status on repository tables.
  • Fix: Added check for Windows mode cookie expiry. This is to prevent failure to accept logged-in Windows user when using mixed authentication mode with new database.

Note on Betas: Beta versions include significant changes which are still undergoing final testing before an official release. While we don't anticipate any issues running our beta versions, they have only been tested in our environment and there may be bugs that we have not yet discovered. We therefore recommend that you install a beta version on a staging server to test that it will not cause you any problems, or wait until an official release, before installing to a production server.

Should you encounter any bugs or other issues with a Beta version, please contact us via support@finalbuilder.com

Note: You will need to update your agents after upgrading the server to this version.

New Version 1.9.2 Features

Export and Import

Administrators can now export one or more project configurations to a YAML or JSON file. This may be for backup, versioning or migration to another server. The exported files can then be imported into the same or another Continua CI server. You can choose to import over existing configurations, or to import as a new configuration. Related repositories, variables, shared resources, issue connectors and permissions can be included in the export and import process.

Requeuing Stages

Sometimes a build stage may fail due to external influences - it could be that a file server was offline, network connectivity was down, or a file was locked for access. The last stage of a completed build can now be requeued, providing that it has failed, stopped or errored, and the server workspace is intact and no files have been removed by the cleanup process.

Multiple Daily Cleanup Rules

The build cleanup functionality has been rewritten to allow individual build by-products to have different shelf lifes. Multiple cleanup rules can now be defined at each level. This allows you to, for example, clean up workspace files for a build several days before the build is removed from the build history in the database. Agent workspace files can now also be included as part of the daily clean up rules.

This version also builds upon all the fixes and improvements in version 1.9.1. Any further bug fixes and improvements on version 1.9.1 will be merged into version 1.9.2

See Introducing Continua CI Version 1.9.2 Beta for further details on the new features.
